SAE Maps Out Ultra-Lightweight Oils

Don’t believe you’ll see a 0W-10 motor oil on the market in your lifetime? I wouldn’t bet on it. Check out this article from Lube Report. SAE and automakers are working on formulations as low as SAE 5 (a 0W-5, anyone?) and here’s betting, what with automakers struggling to eke out gas mileage from every nook and cranny of an engine, that we’ll see something like a 0W-10 on the market by 2020 or so.
