‘Tis the Season for M&A’s

If you haven’t been following along in our weekly “Lubes in the News” feature on this very blog, it seems a wave of mergers and acquisitions is hitting the industry in a big way. Longtime observers can remember few times when there was this much M&A activity in such a short timespan.

Now comes word that TBC Corp., the company that operates the Big O Tire, National Tire & Battery, Tire Kingdom and Merchant’s Tire chains, recently acquired 15 Tires Plus shops in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The company will convert these stores to National Tire & Battery locations.

In other news, buried in Midas’ recent financial disclosures was the news that the company expects to have 50 co-branded Midas/SpeeDee Oil Change shops by year’s end.
