New Fuel Economy Regs

Okay, so Uncle Sam has already told the automakers they have to achieve 40-plus mpg by 2016. Now, Uncle is looking at upping the ante and making automakers meet 60-plus mpg by 2025! You can read more of the details here, but suffice it to say the 60 mpg target is roughly double the current standard. Know how many cars on the road today get 60 mpg? Zero. Chew on that one for a while.

Expect to see a lot of diesel and hybrid vehicles in Americans’ futures if this one goes through.
