Lubricants Study

Lube Report has an article on a new study from industry research firm Kline Energy Practice. The report predicts that lubricant sales will never recover to pre-recession levels.

Of particular note was the market share for major brands. According to Kline, Shell was the leading supplier of consumer automotive lubricants in the United States in 2009, holding 24 percent of the market. Valvoline and BP tied at 13 percent each, while ExxonMobil held 9 percent, ConocoPhillips 7 percent, Chevron 6 percent and CITGO with 1 percent. Other non-major brands held the remaining 27 percent.
