Ford will launch a bevy of engines with its best-selling 2011 F-150 pickup. The base engine will be a 3.7L V6 engine cranking out 300 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque; Ford promises the engine will deliver a significant improvement over the outgoing 4.6L V8 that was the F-150’s base engine.
Optional on the F-150 will be a 3.5L EcoBoost engine that Ford says will deliver a 20 percent mileage improvement versus the 5.4L V8 that was optional on F-150s. In addition to the two V6 engines, Ford will also offer 5.0L and 6.2L V8 engines. All four powerplants will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
