It appears Congress in their infinite wisdom (or lack thereof) is poised to pass the so-called “Cash for Clunkers” act that will pay consumers to turn in older vehicles. The program has been available to consumers in California for a while, but has met with limited success. Not sure what impact it would have on the lube industry, as most of the vehicles turned in tend to be outside of the “prime” age range for DIFM oil change services. Might hurt Walmart, though!
